Welcome to the October Pewsheet
Welcome to the October edition of the Pewsheet, the first of the 2019-20 season. Please remember its your news so please contact me to include any information you want to share with the rest of the club members.
On the Pitch
The 1st team started well with two wins ( home v Trowbridge and away v Amesbury) and a narrow home defeat against a well organised Westbury side. The team is playing a good standard of Rugby and have scored some 16 tries to date. Match reports for the first two games can be seen on the web-site www.pewseyrugby.co.uk. New players are always welcome, backs in particular are needed. Training, run by top coach Jamie Balls is on Tuesdays from 7pm. All our fixtures are now posted on the web-site so there no excuse for not coming along and supporting the team and seeing progress on the pavilion.
Youth coaching started on the 1st September and has been well supported. Englands opening game last Sunday was watched by a number of players and parents alike. Training takes place most Sundays

There is real momentum in the building of the clubhouse and we have made great progress thanks to a small group of volunteers and a number of working parties throughout the summer. Our thanks to all those who have and continue to volunteer.
The grant provided is great step up but is not sufficient to contract out all work to professionals, and there is still an urgent need for volunteers. The work now needed is painting, decorating and tiling. If you have a spare couple of hours either Saturday or Sunday mornings or during the week please contact Peter Curle (tel 07932 789757) who will be only to happy to organise and supervise the work. If we can get more volunteers there is a real chance we can finish the work and fully occupy the pavilion by the end of the year.
We are making a real effort to get our web-site up to date and fully functional. Go to www.pewseyrugby.co.uk to find out fixtures, match reports, club documents and social events. Many thanks to Peter Baird for getting us up to speed. Remember the web-site will be as good as the content you feed into it.
Our social team managed two great events in the Summer, our own family day and a family day as part of the Pewsey Carnival. Both days were great fun-filled events which brought in much needed funds into the club. Of course the club’s main event the Ball is on Saturday 7th December and you do not want to miss it. Tickets are available form Elaine Haynes (07767 763851). Pencil in the 29th February for another hilarious “Fools and Horses” dinner at the Bouverie Hall. More details to follow.
A reminder that the post of club secretary will fall vacant at the end of this season. This is a very important post and one which the club cannot do without. If you are interested and wish to know more contact Steve Park (0796 8123406) to find out more
Enjoy your Rugby
